Dora et Franz, Sauver le jour
July 1923. Franz Kafka meets Dora Diamant on the shores of the Baltic Sea. They fall in love. Meeting this adopted Berliner, who had fled the orthodox traditions of her small Polish hometown, triggers what he calls his wildest act: already very ill, Kafka follows his beloved to Berlin instead of spending his life in sanatorium after sanatorium. The show follows this life impulse. It crosses the event of Franz Kafka's marriage proposal to Dora Diamant, just a few weeks before his death, with klezmer music - once played at festivities in Jewish communities in Eastern Europe, and one of whose deepest vocations is to thrill its audience. Actress and director Caroline Arrouas invites us to celebrate a marriage that never took place. We are all invited to this wedding, a feast where the guests happily rub shoulders with the ghosts.
