Discussion avec DS

Je ne suis pas une apparition

Teenager's bedroom? Cabinet of curiosities? Kitsch sanctuary? A small altar is erected on stage, around which the ghost of Delphine Seyrig, aka "DS", is invoked and summoned. "I am not an apparition", said the actress in François Truffaut's Baisers volés. With great humor, actress Raphaëlle Rousseau turns this statement on its head as she attempts to make her late idol appear on stage. How do you construct yourself, as an actress and as a woman, through the voices of those who haunt you? Drawing on sound archives, this virtuoso montage invents a dialogue between the feminist icon and her young admirer, at once dreamlike and very real. Reunited for the time of a performance, the two women talk about their shared profession, stage fright and failure, characters and solitude, activism and motherhood... Beyond the moving and facetious tribute, the one-woman show Discussion with DS becomes a duo and plays with the very essence of theater: giving voice to the dead, giving a body to the absent.
