Des Dragons dans les halls
Jules Lopez, aka "Julo le gros", is an obese young man living in La Croix d'Argent, a working-class district of Montpellier, in the 1990s. In Julo's world, the TV is on all the time. Some teenagers binge on Japanese cartoons. Dragon Ball, adapted from Akira Toriyama's manga, is their favorite. It features the adventures of San Goku, a young monkey-tailed humanoid warrior who trains relentlessly to face increasingly powerful opponents. This universe of endless battles is a refuge for Julo and his friends, immersed in a daily life of precariousness, drug dealing and drug addiction, to the despair of their anxiety-ridden parents. But as they grew up, Julo and his friends discovered rap. They draw on their daily misadventures and recycle whatever pop culture they can get their hands on to turn their lives into poems and try to be happy. Thanks to the art of "La Parole", Julo hopes to go from being a fat kid mocked by the hoodlums to a respected orator.
Julien Villa adapts his own novel for the stage. On stage, in a radio studio setting, he becomes a storyteller. Accompanied by two performers, he brings to life all the mythical characters of a single neighborhood.
