Delirious Night

Add to my favorites

Far from social rules and codes, the night presents itself as an intoxicating world where community becomes possible. Inspired by the frenetic dances of the Middle Ages, Delirious Night by Mette Ingvartsen is experienced as a ritual of liberation and healing.

The night is an invitation to party. Freed from the rules and codes that govern the day, it presents itself as an intoxicating world, full of desires and dangers. mette Ingvartsen's Delirious Night is experienced as a ritual, inspired by the dancing manias of the Middle Ages, carnivals, masked balls and other celebrations that suspend the social order. The Danish choreographer observes her times and the way bodies react to times of crisis. On stage, nine men and women abandon themselves to a delirious night of music and dance, inhabiting this alternative space where community becomes possible. Their bodies confronted by excess and collective frenzy oscillate between joy and sadness, hedonism and exorcism, norm and resistance.
