Danses non humaines

Add to my favorites

A fascinating investigation through the history of dance, in search of bodies capable of welcoming non-human forms of life.

Fascinated by nature for a very long time, choreographers have not always succeeded in making a fair place for the non-human in their creations. Yet their attempts teach us a great deal about our relationship with the living. Guided by this certainty, Jérôme Bel and Estelle Zhong Mengual have investigated.

Danceslive in support, a lecturer guides us through Western scholarly dance, where movement sometimes attempts to embody the stars, sometimes to imitate animals and sometimes to represent other natural elements. She questions the various strategies invented by choreographers to tackle this seemingly impossible challenge: becoming bodies other than our own.
