Crowd

Intense dive into a rave party where movements and fictions vibrate together, Crowd is both an aesthetic shock and an experiment in time. A jubilant, hypnotizing emotional rollercoaster.

Becoming a classic in choreographer Gisèle Vienne's repertoire since its creation in 2017, Crowd brings together fifteen male and female dancers - like so many characters and stories - on a stage transformed into a dusty wasteland littered with the reliefs of a party in progress. Caught up in the twists and turns of this rave party, the bodies experience different physical and emotional states, to the sound of a selection that embraces the history of electronic music, offering a special place to Detroit techno and the Underground Resistance collective. Crowd is a sensory experience in which the relationship to time is altered by the performers' movements: slow motion, jerks, stops and loops create powerful images and constantly recompose the arrangement of bodies, temporalities and fictions. While leaving the audience a determining part in how they see and experience the piece, the choreographer unfolds a vision of the party as an alternative space in which to dance, experiment, meet and live with a little more intensity.
