CONTES CHINOIS

Add to my favorites

With director François Orsoni at the helm, Chen Jiang Hong's on-stage paintings, music and voice enter into osmosis to compose a magnificent adaptation of two Chinese fairy tales, Le prince tigre and Le cheval magique de Han Gan.

The rhythm is gentle, soothing, in contrast to the profusion of images that inundate our times. This is one of the strengths of this show, which bets on slow time and poetry, and in which two of the many stories written and illustrated by Chen Jiang Hong for children come to life under his brushes. The brushstrokes are precise, alternately illustrative and abstract. The Chinese ink images, accompanied by music and voice and sometimes animated, form a marvelous whole. It's a show that can be discovered as you would turn the pages of a book read to a child at bedtime.
