Commençons par faire l'amour
With Commençons par faire l'amour, Laura Bachman takes up Jean-Philippe Toussaint's tetralogy (Faire l'amour, Fuir, La Vérité sur Marie, Nue) to offer a sensitive re-reading through the prism of the body, movement and the feminine.
After her acclaimed debut at La Villette with Ne me touchez pas, a duet with Marion Barbeau about touch and its multiple dimensions, Laura Bachman returns this season with Commençons par faire l'amour, a new proposal about relationships, the feminine and the body in transformation. Freely inspired by Jean-Philippe Toussaint's tetralogy of novels, this new creation explores relationships, the feminine and the body in mutation through the character of Marie, a figure marked by rupture, loss and love. Working closely with the author and performers, the choreographer draws on this literary material to create a new stage score, in which words and movement respond to each other. Carried by an actress and four male and female dancers, the piece becomes the site of a dialogue between textuality and corporality, a sensitive terrain for research into the feminine, its representations and possible reinventions.
