CITADELLE

Add to my favorites

Citadelle is a dive into the heart of an unsolved case: the drowned men of the Deûle. Accustomed to investigative fieldwork, the duo Mélodie Lasselin and Simon Capelle this time turn their gaze to their own territory, the Hauts-de-France.

First part of the triptych Zone Deûle, Citadelle explores our relationship with this river through the disappearances of five men between 2010 and 2011, found drowned. In 2017, three years after the conclusion of the investigation, we discover the involvement of members of the local ultra-right in one of the disappearances. An entire identity network is then uncovered, a bar: La Citadelle.

In this highly accurate show, where every word is documented and sourced, the duo give voice to the victims' relatives, journalists and LGBTIQ+ associations met along the way. Going beyond the news story, Citadelle is a theatrical act of resistance and justice, but also of compassion and empathy.
