Romeo Castellucci has long been fascinated by one figure: Moses. The most important figure in the Hebrew Bible, receiving the Law for Judaism, prefiguring Jesus Christ for Christianity and preceding the prophet Mohammed for Islam. A memorial figure with no proven historical roots, Moses lives a life filled with powerful, symbolic, founding events: saved from the waters, confronted with the mystery of the burning bush, freeing his people from captivity, receiving the tablets of the Law after forty days on Mount Sinai, destroying the Golden Calf fashioned by his people.... He is the one to whom God reveals a transcription of his name, YHWH.
