Un bruissement de fourmillières

At her home in Martinique, Elisenda, a woman in her seventies of Spanish origin, is losing her memory.

Lucien, a care assistant in his fifties of African descent, looks after her.

As the visits continue, bonds are forged, complicated by post-colonial reflections, Lucien’s memories of imprisonment and Elisenda’s increasingly confused recollections of her life – from which figures from the past emerge, ranging from her escape from Franco’s regime to her business activities in Equatorial Africa.

Whilst, all around, the voice of nature and the devastating effects of pesticides become ever-present, a meeting takes place between these two solitary souls in search of resilience and forgiveness.
